    Hi, I'm MJ and I'm happy you have found my website.  I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor/Therapist registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and I have extensive professional training and experience with a diverse clientele of all ages and walks of life.  I'm here because I have a passion for working with and helping my clients on their journey to achieve their goals.  I consider it a sacred honour and privilege to be trusted with what my clients bring to the table and the courage that they show in seeking help.

    When you make the decision to come to counselling, it is essential that you find the right therapist that you can feel comfortable with and experience a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship.  I provide a safe, warm, compassionate, collaborative and confidential space in which clients can do the work that they need to do.  My approach is relaxed, accepting, and client-centred, and I treat my clients with the unconditional respect and dignity that we all deserve.

    My practice is based on a holistic, interconnected view of health, wellness and healing.  I believe that you are the expert in your life and you have the solutions within you to overcome your challenges and move forward on your journey.  My role as your therapist is to help you explore and better understand those challenges and help you to develop viable strategies, options and choices for making positive changes in your life.

    I will assist you by drawing from various evidence-based theories and techniques including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, trauma-informed, attachment-based, brain-based, strength-based, culturally sensitive, empowerment and eclectic theories. Together we will create goals that empower you to make positive changes, and develop coping strategies to live the life you want.

    I work with individuals, couples, families and groups.  I have diverse training and experience but I specialize in the areas of trauma and abuse (past or recent) recovery, PTSD, survivors of sexual abuse, survivors of domestic violence, Indigenous intergenerational trauma and residential school/60s scoop issues, self-esteem and self-confidence, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation.  I am here to help.
